Elaine Díaz Rodríguez is an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism at the University of Havana. She has published articles about hypermedia communication, technology, and society in the academic journals Telos and Revista Latina de Comunicación Social. She is co-author of the book Hacia una sociedad digital. Coordenadas para su abordaje published by Editorial Académica Española. She has participated in various international conferences about human rights and ICTs in Brazil and Kenya. She is a member of the Global Voices blogger collective and wrote her own popular blog La Polémica Digital from 2008-2012.
Yasmín Silvia Portales Machado is a member of the “Anti-capitalism and Emergent Sociabilities” Working Group of the Latin American Council for Social Sciences, the Observatorio Crítico, the Asociación Hermanos Saíz, and founder and coordinator of the Proyecto Arcoiris, an independent group of activists fighting against homophobia and sexism in Cuba. A self-described Marxist, feminist, and blogger, Portales has also worked as a journalist and editor in various digital publications in Cuba including Cubaliteraria and the web site of CENESEX. She often writes about gender, sexual diversity, and science fiction.
Yudivian Almeida Cruz, Ph.D., is a professor in the School of Mathematics and Computation at the University of Havana who researches web-based information distribution systems and their application in Cuba.
Armando Chaguaceda Noriega, Ph.D., is a Cuban political scientist, historian, and social activist. His scholarship focuses on various progressive Latin American social movements in which he is an active participant. He has published numerous articles on Cuban politics and emerging alternative social and proto-political movements on the island.
